First thing’s first, as the author and editor of this space, I would like to take this opportunity to formally introduce myself so we get the stranger concern out of the way. My name is Satvika Harilal and I have been breathing since 19 May 1992 when I (re)entered into this world. I was born in South Africa, which is where I still call home, however, I have ancestral roots from North India and I still maintain a culturally rich life.
Okay, next thing’s next, I would like to tell you a bit more about what I’ve done already, what I’m doing now and what I still want to do in the future so we can get any credibility concerns addressed. Those who know me might say I’m a jack of all trades (and master of some), and when I think back to what I have done in my life, I would tend to agree with them.
From an early age I was always interested in sports and technology – I wanted to be outside playing cricket, tennis or golf, or spending time hiking out in the mountains, and I wanted to know how everything works. Needless to say, a desk job career was not for me; I chose to study mechanical engineering. Four years of worthwhile social sacrifices got me my degree Summa Cum Laude, and off I was into the great big world. Fast forward another 6 years of life-changing experiences and tremendous personal growth, I made the difficult decision to hang up my hard hat and safety boots, and head back to university to study towards a medical degree, which is where I find myself currently.
When I’m not building stuff, I’m climbing mountains, creating music, practicing yoga or giving back. In 2017, I accomplished my childhood dream of summiting Africa’s tallest mountain, Mount Kilimanjaro, 2018 took me to Nepal and Tibet to visit Lord Shiva’s humble abode, Mount Kailash, and, most recently, I was blessed to be able to invest some time in Rishikesh where I studied the practice of yoga and I took on the responsibility of becoming a teacher of the art. My most recent adventure was the famous trek to Everest Base Camp, which I completed in 2019.
I want to motivate, inspire and help people grow and achieve their own goals by showing you that anything is possible. My intention and fundamental purpose of creating this online space is to share the experiences and knowledge I have been so fortunate to acquire in my life thus far so that others can be inspired and motivated to achieve and do more in their own lives.
